I don't think it will work. Once you raise the price from "free" to even
$0.01, it becomes less convenient for the user, if nothing else. My bet
is that a small, core group would pay, most wouldn't bother and would
get their news elsewhere, and the rest would obtain illegal copies. I
may be wrong, but I anticipate that subscriptions wouldn't nearly make
up for the lost ad revenue.
