[FC-discuss] What really kills DRM in music?

thirded.  I was under the impression the unwillingness to license FairPlay is
what gave them that dominance.  Now that they have the market perhaps they
decided that it was simply a good time to ditch the now useless FairPlay.
(especially in light of Amazon's growing sales in the field)

Apple's move isn't altruistic for the purpose of altruism.  It is capitalizing
on a momentum of DRM hatred among consumers by symbolically discarding a now
useless appendage of their software strategy.  Not only are they riding a lot
of free press but they are profiting on the conversion of the DRM'd -> MP3.
