Description: So this Wednesday, February 11th at 7pm, we are going to  
attempt to build a pickup for a guitar that will connect to the computer  
and transmit midi messages.  We are going to build our own version  
of http://www.axon-technologies.net/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=37&menu=107  A  
class (CSE 323) is going to try and write software to take advantage of  
this MIDI-Guitar controller to build a guitar hero clone that teaches  
actual songs.There are a few ways to go about this, especially on where to  
actually do the calculation of the base frequency. For now, I plan on  
taking apart a guitar pickup, wiring 6 separate channels over 3 stereo  
signals, and trying to get software to convert it into midi  
(like http://www.nuton.ca/g_musiciendoz.html ). Using an arduino to do the  
base calculations might be faster or slower, and we might want to do that  
since it will be easier to interface with the arduino with 6 channels than  
a laptop.  If you have any of the below parts, please email the list if you  
can bring them!Also, Bill generously donated some money to IL, I will be  
using some of this for piezo pickups, but know that if you want to head a  
project but don't have the cash we can figure something out! I will be  
sending out a more formal Constitution for IL so we have well-established  
protocols on handling funds and stuff like that. Again, if anyone has  
experience or is interested in helping out, just mail the list!-
